A couple of what may be bellwether projects have been funded on Kickstarter over the past couple of weeks. In the game category, Infinite X Studio raised over $42,000 for the Quantum Roleplaying Game. Among numerous other levels for backers, several options for retailers were offered, with a limited edition, signed and numbered copy of the game, promo posters, and shipping included in wholesale bundles of different sizes. The initial goal of $13,000 was blown through in six days.
In addition to the hardcover edition, a PDF will also be released.
Infinite X was founded by Joshua F. Frost, an award-winning game designer who’s done work for Green Ronin (see "37th Annual Origins Awards Finalists") and Paizo (see "Yetisburg from Paizo"). The Quantum RPG is a science fantasy set in a far future world. The game engine is new: the Infinite Roleplaying Engine.
The official release date for the first book and two other products will be announced soon.
Games are not the only Kickstarter projects getting funded with wholesale participation for retailers (see "'Ashes' Graphic Novel Funded on Kickstarter").
