Asmodee has announced that it will release the card game Mascarade in North America in September, with a premiere at Gen Con Indy in August.
Mascarade is a standalone card game by French game designer Bruno Faidutti (Citadels, Queens Necklace) in which players attend a renaissance masquerade as one of 13 characters, and attempt to amass gold pieces by either telling the truth or bluffing (rather like poker –it’s about reading the players as much as the cards). Character cards can be switched (or not) throughout the game, as players can activate the power of their character on their turn if they announce who they are, as long as none of the other players challenge them.
The game is recommended for ages 10+, for 2 – 13 players, and plays in about 20 minutes.
The box contains 13 character cards, 1 blank character card, 14 character markers (including a blank character marker), a courthouse, coins and a rulebook. MSRP is $29.99.
