Cryptozoic Entertainment has released details on its planned release of The Doom That Came to Atlantic City in 2014, the canceled Kickstarter (see "Kickstarter 'Doom'") that it rescued (see "Cryptozoic Saves 'Doom'").

Designed by Keith Baker and Lee Moyer, with playing pieces by sculptor Paul Komoda, the game is for 2 – 4 players, ages 15 and up, and plays in 30 – 45 minutes.  The box contains 8 custom playing pieces, 8 Mythos Role cards, 45 Chants cards, 24 Gate cards, 16 Tome cards, 4 reference cards, 50 cultists, 40 gate markers, 60 homes, 8 resorts, 8 tentacles, 2 custom dice, a game board, and rules. No MSRP has been announced.

Doom is a clever flip of the usual ‘defend the city/humanity’ genre, as it allows players to assume the role of Lovecraftian Great Old Ones, returned to Earth to unleash doom upon humanity!  Unfortunately, the alignment of the stars was also right to summon rival ancient eldritch beings, and they have the same idea.  Players fight to steal cultists, destroy homes, rip holes in reality and call down the ultimate Doom.
