In January, Bandai plans to release Digimon Fusion, a CCG based on the newest Digimon animated series, which launched on Nickelodeon in September.
The Digimon Fusion CCG will be available in two SKUs: Theme Decks (Red and Blue), and Booster Packs. The Theme Decks contain 40 cards (a 30 card deck and 10 card booster) for $9.99, and are packaged eight to a display. The Boosters contain 10 cards (of a 60 card set) for $3.50, and are packaged 15 to a display.
The Digimon property, aimed at a younger audience than Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon, was launched in the U.S. by Saban Entertainment in 1999 under license from Toei; Saban re-acquired rights outside Asia in 2012 (see "'Digimon' Returns"). The new Digimon Fusion series is airing on Nicktoons and Vortexx, and the classic Digimon Series 1 began airing in June on Nicktoons.
Bandai also plans to launch toys based on the series in January.
