Fun To 11, creators of Castle Dice, will design and publish Pathfinder Dice Arena, a new tabletop dice game set in the Pathfinder RPG universe, under license from Paizo.
“The product is a license from Paizo, but will be sold by Fun to 11,” clarified Luke Peterschmidt, of Fun to 11. Fun to 11’s previous products (all funded via Kickstarter) include Fairy Mischief, Castle Dice, Flame War and Miskatonic School for Girls. ”(T)his game is likely going to be so much bigger than everything else we've done,” he said of the Paizo license.
Designed by David Freeman (Robotech RPG Tactics and the Universal Fighting System card games) and Kai Nesbit, players take the role of iconic heroes from Pathfinder battling in a royal tournament for gold and glory. Players create high-scoring fight combos while also using counter moves to interfere with opponents’ scoring actions. The winner is the player with the most Victory Points after two rounds.
The box contains 64 custom molded dice, 6 character play mats, 6 character trait cards, 24 character item cards, 30 fate cards, a rulebook and scoring pad. MSRP is tentatively set at $65.00, with release to trade at Gen Con 2014.
The game is currently seeking funding through Kickstarter (there is no retailer backing level), where the campaign reached its $35,000 goal in the first day.
