Gen Con News: Dark Horse Comics and Kitchen Sink Books have announced the June, 2015 publication of Realms: The Roleplayer Art of Tony DiTerlizzi, the first comprehensive collection of DiTerlizzi’s fantasy game art. The deluxe 224-page, 9"x12" hardcover collects the superb fantasy art that DiTerlizzi created for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, Planescape, and Magic: The Gathering during the 1990s.
DiTerlizzi was well known among fantasy gamers for his skill in creating monsters and fantastical creatures of all types, and he put those skills to great use in his second career as an award-winning author of books such as The Spiderwick Chronicles, which sold millions of copies and was made into a successful feature in 2008.
Realms will include hundreds of illustrations drawn from original art, unpublished sketches, and photographs from DiTerlizzi’s archives. In addition DiTerlizzi is creating a number of new paintings created especially for this collection.
Christopher Paoline (Eragon) provides the introduction to the collection, which also includes appreciations of DiTerlizzi’s art by Guillermo Del Toro, Brom, Jane Yolen, Jeff Easley, Holly Black, Zeb Cook, and Donato Giancola.
