No sooner has the Mage Knight Great Fire Dragon hit the store shelves (see 'Mage Knight Great Fire Dragon Announced'), than we get a look at the next fire-breathing reptile destined to turn the tide of battle in the popular Mage Knight collectible miniatures game.  Kevin Barrett, the Lead Game Designer for the Mage Knight game, notes that this new Shadow Dragon will function entirely differently from the Fire Dragon on the battlefield once it is released to gamers in late August.  Like the Great Fire Dragon, the new Venomous Shadow Dragon will be a limited edition figure and will carry a $24.95 retail, though its production run will be slightly higher than the Fire Dragon's.

Mage Knight is a table top miniatures war game which utilizes elements of the CCG format (starters, booster packs, and seeded rarities).  Mage Knight game play is fast and furious and, above all, easy-to-learn since all the figures have patented 'combat dials' on their bases. The figures also come pre-painted, so those of us who are less than expert with tiny brushes can compete on an equal level with our dexterous opponents.  The Venomous Shadow Dragon has its own distinctive paint job and comes with four Mage Knight combat dials on its base.  The figure has its own strengths and weaknesses that are quite different from the powers and vulnerabilities of the Great Fire Dragon.  To get an idea of the scale of the Shadow Dragon, note that it has a base that is over six inches long.
