Wizards of the Coast has announced the release of Monsters Menace America, a B-Movie 'monster mash' of a board game in which players control kaiju-like mutated monsters who stomp, burn and bash their way across North America in an attempt to become the 'King of the Monsters.'  Released under WotC's Avalon Hill imprint, Monsters Menace America (msrp $45) is a lavishly produced board game suitable for two to four players, ages 12 and older.

In addition to a giant full color game board,  six monsters, six monster record tiles, 42 military units, 2 military record tiles, 16 military research cards, 16 monster mutation cards, and 23 stomp markers, the game includes three dice and 15 plastic sliders.

The six monsters whose designs reflect classic monster movies such as King Kong ('Konk'), Godzilla ('Tomanagi'), The Deadly Mantis ('Gargantis') and Ultraman ('Megaclaw') are presented as colorful two-inch tall 3-D playing pieces that dwarf the National Guard's half-inch long tanks.  Players guide their monsters across a game board that represents the U.S. crushing their least favorite American cities into oblivion, but if the health of a monster drops too low, it faces exile in Hollywood as a sad sideshow attraction.
