ICv2 has learned that WizKids, the company that created the category-defining collectible miniatures game Mage Knight, has tapped Jonathan Leithuesser for the post of Advertising and Public Relations Manager.  Leithuesser is a veteran of the games industry with solid credentials.  He was Games Product Manager for Capital City Distribution and also Diamond Comic Distributors.  He founded his own game company Corsair and is the editor-in-chief of Campaign, a popular d-20 magazine.  Leitheusser told ICv2 that the second issue of Campaign, his swansong as editor, is about to head to the printer.  Leitheusser indicated that he would no longer be involved in Campaign, and that he would soon be issuing a press release concerning the new team that would be taking over Campaign and Corsair.

WizKids, which is in the midst of a major expansion that will see the company create new CMGs for DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and Battletech in 2002, has wisely chosen to staff up with seasoned industry pros such as Martin Stever and Jonathan Leitheusser.  Having created the collectible miniatures game genre, WizKids has moved quickly to fill content niches (superhero, science fiction) that might have provided openings for competitors eager to make similar games and take advantage of the amazing success of WizKid's Mage Knight medieval fantasy combat game.  Now WizKids' challenges are to staff up enough to be able to maintain a high level of quality as the company expands from producing one CMG, with all its expansions and special figures, to creating four different games and all the attendant extras.
