Black Industries has announced the impending release of no fewer than three Warhammer 40,000 role-playing games starting with Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, which comes out in March.  Bolstered by the success of the revamped Warhammer Fantasy RPG, Black Industries is preparing a trifecta of RPGs based on Warhammer 40K, the science fiction tabletop miniatures war game.  The designers at Green Ronin who helped fashion the new version of the Warhammer Fantasy RPG have created the game system, which will be used in all three Warhammer 40K RPGs, while the background information for the new games is in the capable hands of the Black Library's team of writers.

Warhammer 40K: Dark Heresy, the first game in the series, will allow players to assume the roles of members of an Inquisitor's retinue.  Their task is to uproot the taint of Chaos in Imperial society, to smash dark cults and foil sinister plots.  Dark Heresy is a game of investigation and it will provide the ideal introduction to the dark and gothic universe of the 41st Millennium, but it is only the beginning -- two further games will be released at eighteen month intervals and will allow players to progress and explore the universe first as Rogue Traders and alien pirates, and eventually as the devastating warriors of the Adeptus Astartes Deathwatch.

All three games will employ the same game system and players will be able to progress from one game to the next as they gain experience and knowledge of the vastly detailed universe of Warhammer 40K.  Each of the games will be launched with a core rulebook, which will be supplemented by regular releases of sourcebooks and RPG adventures.
