WizKids has announced a new organized play system for its hit Mage Knight collectible miniatures game (CMG).  The new system will include sanctioned tournaments, seasonal leagues, worldwide player ratings and rankings, and National Mage Knight Championships.  This will expand the types of events that retailers can host and increase interest in organized Mage Knight play.  It brings the WizKids organized play system up to the standard of major CCG companies like Wizards of the Coast, Decipher, and Score.

Starting November 9th, retailers can host sanctioned Mage Knight tournaments at which players can earn official ratings and rankings.  Sanctioned tournaments are competitive events run in compliance with WizKids' rules and policies.

The Mage Knight League debuts in January 2002, and play will consist of twelve weekly league events for each of the four quarters of the year.  These events are intended to be a more low-key group play environment, although ratings and rankings from league play will also be posted online.

Retailers will be assisted in organizing tournament and league play by Mage Knight demo teams, who will actually run the games.  Retailers interested in becoming Mage Knight venues can do so by going to the Mageknight.com website and clicking on the 'Venue' link in the upper right of the page.
