Fast Forward Entertainment has just announced a new d20 sourcebook that will present a host of magic items, their guardians, and their hiding places. Wondrous Items of Power, a $26.99 hardcover (8.3' x 10. 8'), contains 160 pages with a full color cover and black-and-white interior illustrations by William W. Connors and Moonlight Studios. Authors James M. Ward, Timothy Brown, and Lester Smith have created never-before-seen magical items and placed them in many different types of amulets, necklaces, and bracelets. These magical tokens are the perfect element to spice up any d20 fantasy campaign. As with Fast Forward's previous d20 hardcover source books, Rings of Power and Swords of Power, every item detailed in Wondrous Items of Power is available for sale, allowing gamers to purchase items that can bring a focusing element of reality to their fantasy games.
Based near Lake Geneva Wisconsin where TSR virtually invented fantasy role-playing, Fast Forward includes many ex-TSR staffers and artists. James M. Ward, one of Fast Forward's founders, was a key TSR designer. After working for Score where he helped design the popular Dragonball Z and Buffy the Vampire Slayer Collectible Card Games, Ward is now devoting his full time to Fast Forward (see 'Danovich Moves to Fast Forward'). The d20 Open Gaming System (see 'd20 And the Open Gaming License Explained') has provided enormous opportunities for smaller publishers to flourish by creating new adventures and applications for the d20 system. Fast Forward has chosen to carve out a niche by producing a series of TSResque hardcover sourcebooks for d20 campaigns -- and they have sought to distinguish themselves from the horde of d20 publishers by making it possible for gamers to buy facsimiles of the items pictured in these sourcebooks. This mirrors a trend toward selling accessory items, which is gaining increasing prominence in the world of on-line adventure gaming. Fast Forward hopes it will prove to be just as strong a trend in the world of traditional role-playing.
