It was a quiet summer in the non-collectible miniatures business in 2024, with Games Workshop softer than in 2023 and no other legacy brands making a splash. Heroscape, the one game that had the potential to shake up the business, came out right at the end of the May-August Summer season, so was just starting to make an impact. Despite that late arrival, it still made the top five in our Summer chart.
The comparisons for Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 products were tough, with the new edition launching in the year-ago period. And the new Age of Sigmar edition, which launched in the period, did not perform to expectations that were already pretty low. Old World, which came out hot, has softened with later releases. All in all, it didn’t add up to a great summer for Games Workshop, although sales were still solid.
