Roleplaying games have been a vibrant part of the hobby games business in 2024, not only due to the launch of the new version of the big dog in the category, Dungeons & Dragons, but also because of the continued success of a wide variety of other games that are bringing creativity and energy to the category.   

The launch of D&D 2024 at the end of August was an unqualified success, with every person we interviewed telling us that despite robust ordering, they had underestimated the demand.  “We completely underestimated how the new Player's Handbook would do, so it's nice to see that,” a distributor told us.
