At the top of the list, of course, is Dog Man: Grime and Punishment, the newest Dog Man book, which was released on September 1. The other eight volumes in that series all make the list as well, with a few other titles scattered in between. And then, at number 18, we have The Horrifyingly Haunted Hack-A-Ween, which is written by Meredith Rusu but based on the animated Captain Underpants series on Netflix; Captain Underpants, is, of course, a Dav Pilkey creation. This is actually the third book in a series we haven’t seen on the chart before, but perhaps the Halloween theme gave it a boost. It will be interesting to see if this or the other two in that series make it onto the chart again.
Aside from that, it’s business as usual on the kids’ top 20, with Jerry Craft’s New Kid and all five of Raina Telgemeier’s original graphic novels interspersed with some of the other titles that reliably make the list. Karen’s Roller Skates, the Baby-Sitters Little Sister book that knocked Dog Man off the top spot for the first time ever in July, is still on the chart at number 11.
