It’s well known that anime drives manga sales, but in the case of Jujutsu Kaisen, but in this case, it may be the lack of anime that’s giving the series a push. The second season of the anime ended at the end of December 2023, and no date has been given for the third season. The anime adapted the story through the “Shibuya Incident” arc, which ends in Vol. 16. So anyone anxious to find out what happens next would have to buy the manga, and indeed, the volumes on the chart are Vols. 16-21 (plus the obligatory Vol. 1).
Vol. 13 of Chainsaw Man tops the chart for the second month in a row, and right behind it is Vol. 8 of Solo Leveling, a January release. The much-anticipated Solo Leveling anime premiered in January as well, but this is a series with an established track record, and that volume would have been high on the chart with or without an anime.
At number 4 is Vol. 9 of Kaiju No. 8, which will be getting an anime adaptation later this year (see “Spring 2024 Anime”).
Bill Watterson’s The Mysteries stays on the chart for a fourth month but slips down to 18th place.
