The cardboard box was inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame at the Strong Museum in 2006, joining only 34 other toys that have been awarded the honor.  The Hall cited the strength, light weight, easy availability, and the many ways that a child's imagination could use boxes, especially large ones, for play. 'Inside a big cardboard box,' the statement read, 'a child is transported to a world of his or her own, one where anything is possible.'

Past inductees include Barbie, G.I. Joe, Scrabble, Monopoly, and the Frisbee.
