Warner Bros.' remake of the J-Horror film One Missed Call (Chakusin Ari) is due to open on January 4th.  The Warner Bros. film stars Edward Burns (Saving Private Ryan), Shannyn Sossamon (Wristcutters), and Ray Wise (Reaper).  Tyro director Takashi Miike directed the Japanese original, which starred Kou Shibasaki, in 2004. As was the case with American remakes of Ju-on (The Grudge) and Ringu (The Ring), the release of the Hollywood version of One Missed Call, which was directed by French horror specialist Eric Valette, should stimulate interest in the Japanese original.

Media Blasters has released a deluxe two-disc DVD of Miike's One Missed Call ($29.95) and viewers unfamiliar with the movie will find that it is one of Miike's most accessible and best directorial efforts.  Media Blasters has also released a One Missed Call 2-Pack ($39.95), which includes the deluxe 2-disc version of One Missed Call plus a 2-disc edition of the Japanese sequel One Missed Call 2, which was directed by Renpei Tsukamoto.
