ADV and Capcom are involved in an unprecedented cross-promotion in which the first DVD in ADV's three-disc Devil May Cry anime series will be included (free of charge) in the Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition (see 'Anime DVD Included in Videogame').  As Chris Oarr, who worked on the project from the ADV side, told ICv2, 'Anime and videogaming overlap and cross-pollinate in so many ways that it's strange that this is the first time in North America that a full DVD has been included in any kind of gaming program.'

Cross-promoting with Capcom certainly makes sense for ADV since Kazuhiko Abe, Capcom's Managing Corporate Officer announced at the company's 2007 fiscal year meeting that Capcom expects to sell 1.8 million copies of Devil May Cry 4.

The first disc in ADV's Devil May Cry series will be available on its own on February 5th, the same day that Capcom will release both the regular and the Collector's Edition of Devil May Cry 4.  The Collector's Edition (MSRP $79.98), which will include the first DMC anime disc, comes packaged in a deluxe steelbook case, so there was no room to include the traditional DVD case.  But the Collector's Edition will include a coupon that consumers can mail in to ADV in order to get the DVD case and a $5 off coupon on the purchase of the second Devil May Cry anime disc.

ADV and Capcom will also work together at the upcoming New York Anime Festival where Capcom will present the North American debut of DMC 4, which fans will be able to sample at gaming kiosks, and ADV will premiere the first episode of the Devil May Cry anime.  IGN will host a panel on the DMC 4 videogame, which will include videotaped greetings from the creator of DMC 4.
