In the latest example of rampant, festering 1980s nostalgia, the Hollywood trades are reporting that the ABC network has green-lit the pilot for a new series based on V, the 80s science fiction mini-series about rodent-chomping aliens who profess to be working altruistically to help mankind, but whose actual agenda is far more sinister.
Yes, the “visitors” are back, but Kenneth Johnson who wrote and produced the original series that appeared on NBC is not involved this time around, and it is not know if the voluptuous Jane Badler will play a role in the rebooted show either, though rumors to that effect abound. The new V series, which has been reworked by a 4400 co-creator Scott Peters, centers on a female homeland security agent whose disaffected son becomes entranced by the alien presence creating tensions within her household that mirror what is happening in the larger society (see “V Returns to Primetime”).
