Viz Pictures has acquired rights to Battle League Horumo, a combat action comedy based on the best-selling fantasy novel Kamogawa Horumo, by Manabu Makime.  The story is of a club at Kyoto University that continues the mysterious 1000 year-old tradition of battles between the four universities of Kyoto using battling spirits (Oni).  The Oni are produced by anime studio Gonzo. 

Battle League Horumo is directed by Katsunide Motoki (Kitaro and the Millennium Curse) and stars Takayuki Yamada (Train Man:  Densha Otoko) and Chiaki Kuriyama (Ju-on, Kill Bill Volume 1). 

Festival screenings are planned through the summer and fall.
