Ian McKellan revealed in his blog that Hugo Weaving will reprise his role as Lord Elrond in The Hobbit. Fans have been wondering whether or not Weaving’s character would end up in the films; now they have their answer.

McKellan also noted that Bret McKenzie, who played an extra in LOTR, is returning in The Hobbit as Lindir, a senior official at Elrond’s Court.
