Because San Francisco’s Moscone Center is undergoing renovations next year WonderCon is leaving the Bay Area and moving to Anaheim for its 2012 event, which will be held from March 16-18 at the Anaheim Convention Center. WonderCon’s move set off a game of “musical chairs” among other players in the increasingly crowded convention schedule. ReedPop’s C2E2 in Chicago, which was held during that weekend in March this year, will shift to the April 13-15 in 2012. In addition Wizard World has decided to postpone its April 2012 Anaheim show.

David Glanzer of Comic-Con International, which also puts on WonderCon, explains “It was not our wish to move. However, when faced with the prospect of canceling the show for a year or moving locations, after careful consideration we decided to keep WonderCon on the 2012 calendar at a venue that could accommodate our needs.”

Glanzer added: “We appreciate the efforts of Lance (Fensterman of Reed) and Gareb (Shamus of Wizard World) for going above and beyond in making the WonderCon transition more manageable.”
