The CW is wasting no time in filling the cast for the pilot episode of Arrow, the one-hour series based on DC’s Green Arrow, which the network hopes will bring DC Comics action back to the network where Smallville reigned for a decade (see “Green Arrow on CW”). Just two weeks after casting Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen and his alter ego Green Arrow (see “Green Arrow Cast”), the network is opting for Katie Cassidy, who appeared on Supernatural, Gossip Girl, and the short-lived Melrose Place reboot, as Dinah Laurel Lance, a young attorney in the City Necessary Resources Initiative who shares a romantic past with Queen.
TV Line also reports that former Gossip Girl troublemaker Willa Holland will take on the role of Thea Queen, “the boundary-testing celebutante sister of Oliver Queen.” Other cast members for the pilot episode include Susanna Thompson, who will play Moira Queen (Oliver and Thea’s mother), while John Diggle will portray a highly trained Special Forces type who provides security for Queen.
