Channing Tatum has already met with X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner about playing the role of Gambit in a future film.  Tatum was asked about the possibility of playing the character in a video interview at the MTV Movie Awards where he won the "Trailblazer" award, and Donner has already publicly commented on her interest in solo movies featuring the Cajun master thief turned X-Man (see "Producers Talk Mystique, Deadpool Spin-Offs").
 
Donner isn’t the only one who’d like to see Gambit return to the big screen (he was featured briefly in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by Taylor Kitsch), Bryan Singer has stated that he wants Gambit, along with Nightcrawler, to appear in X-Men: Age of the Apocalypse (see "Bryan Singer Wants Nightcrawler & Gambit for 'Age of the Apocalypse'").
