IDW Games and Pandasaurus Games announced the May release of their new edition of the Viking saga Fire & Axe board game, and shared images of the new cards and miniatures.

IDW Games announced the new edition of Steve and Phil Kendall’s well-regarded game last year, including plans for new art and miniatures (see "IDW & Pandasaurus Ready 'Fire & Axe' Viking-Themed Board Game").  The new edition will include more than 90 newly-sculpted miniatures as well as new box and card art.  The first edition printing of the game will feature three separate Viking miniature sculpts (future printings will include only one sculpt), and buyers who preorder from game stores will receive addition bonus miniatures.

Players take the role of Viking clans, out to attain glory by either trading with or conquering Europe.  Each round, players gather crew and outfit boats for a week-long journey of raiding or trading.  There are also unique missions to complete that award bonuses for completed tasked.

The game is for 3-5 players, ages 12 and up, and plays in 90 minutes.  MSRP is $79.99.
