Reversing the usual course of things these days, Legendary Comics is taking the twisted tales of Michael Dougherty from the screen to the printed page with graphic novels based on Dougherty’s 2007 cult hit anthology horror film Trick ‘r Treat and on the writer/director’s upcoming Xmas horror film Krampus.
Sam, the pint-sized trick-or-treater in orange Dr. Dentons with a burlap sack over his head, returns in Legendary’s Trick ‘r Treater graphic novel ($16.95), which presents four all-new tales set in the Trick ‘r Treat universe. This means Sam will be back to unify these tales and to enforce Halloween traditions in his own mysterious and inimitable way. Based on stories by Michael Dougherty, Zach Shields, and Todd Casey, and scripted by Mark Andreyko, the Trick ‘r Treat graphic novel, which is due out in October, features art by Fiona Staples, Zid, Stuart Sayger, and Stephen Byrne, and sets the stage for Trick ‘r Treat 2, a new horror anthology film that is in production at Legendary Pictures.
The Krampus graphic novel is the "official graphic novel" of the upcoming Krampus movie from writer/director Michael Dougherty that is due in theaters in December, perfect timing for this saga of the child-punishing demon of holiday legend. Written by Brian Seifert, the Krampus graphic novel ($14.99), features art by Michael Montenat, Stuart Sayger, Maan House, and Christian DiBari, as well as a strong message to avoid being naughty during the holidays.
