Broadway actress Ciara Renee (Pippin) has been cast as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl in the upcoming series being spun out of Arrow and The Flash, according to Deadline. She graduated from college in 2013, has had two roles on Broadway and an appearance on Law and Order: SVU, according to the report, so is almost a complete unknown. Hawkgirl has not appeared on either Arrow or The Flash, so will be a new addition to the CW’s live action pantheon.
The series is planned for midseason on The CW next year, with a cast that now includes Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave, Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold (see "Dominic Purcell/Heat Wave Joins 'Arrow'/'Flash' Spin-Off"), Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/The Atom, Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein, and Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/Black Canary.
