Top Shelf Productions is releasing the definitive collection of Eddie Campbell's Bacchus and a kids crossover by James Kochalka.
Best known for From Hell (with Alan Moore), Campbell’s Bacchus is a sprawling saga, including over 1,000 pages produced over a decade of work. The story follows a group of ancient Greek gods and mythic figures who have survived till the present day, centering on the character title Bacchus, the god of wine and revelry. Various Bacchus stories have appeared over the years and been collected in 10 different anthologies.
Bacchus: Volume 1, a 560-page omnibus, collects the first half of the Bacchus epic (Immortality Isn't Forever, The Gods of Business, Doing the Islands with Bacchus, The Eyeball Kid: One Man Show, and Earth, Water, Air & Fire), including new notes and author commentary. The 7 1/2" x 10" softcover is b&w with a color cover. MSRP is $39.99.
Kochalka won the 2012 Eisner Award for Best Publication for Early Readers for Dragon Puncher Island (see "24th Annual Eisner Award Winners"), and now the robot-kitty-warrior will team up with Johnny Boo "the best little ghost in the world" in an epic series mash-up to take on an Ice Dragon, Johnny Boo Meets Dragon Puncher. The 40-page, 6" x 9" full-color hardcover is $9.99.
