Jason Aaron and Jason Latour’s Southern Bastards series is having a good week. Deadline announced the series is in development for a TV series just as Image Comics revealed a new deluxe hardcover collection of the series first story arc for September.
SRP has acquired television rights to the southern-fried crime series, with plans to develop it as a potential series for FX, similar to Justified and Sons of Anarchy. Aaron and Latour will serve as executive producers, as well as write the adaptation. The story involves a power struggle between the son of a former sheriff and the revered high school football coach turned criminal who now control his Alabama hometown.
Image’s Southern Bastards Book One Premiere Hardcover is a 256-page hardcover that collects issues #1 -8. MSRP is $29.99. The book releases on September 30.
The series was recently nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series (see "The 2015 Eisner Award Nominees").
