The post-Secret Wars Marvel Universe will gain another full time inhabitant, the immensely powerful Greek hero and demigod Hercules, who, in November, will begin appearing in a new ongoing eponymous series that will be written by Dan Abnett and drawn by Luke Ross. The big guy, who is known in the Marvel Universe as much for his buffoonery as for his immense strength, will, according to Comic Book Resources, “attempt to turn over a new leaf and become the hero he once was.”
Though the new Hercules comic will pay homage to his previous Marvel incarnations, this Hercules, while retaining the bulging biceps, comes with a new look and a few cross-cultural references. His costume features a back-mounted samurai sword, a belt with cartridge packs (but no guns), some weird looking chaps and what appears to some sort of a cross between sledgehammer heads and roller-blade knee protectors (no doubt useful for hunkering down on the old hands and knees to get the floors of the Augean stables spic and span).
