Turner Broadcasting has acquired U.S. rights to 500 Peanuts cartoons created by French studio Normaal and Peanuts Worldwide, according to Variety. The shorts will be aired on Boomerang, with promotional crossover on Cartoon Network and the Cartoon Network app. This will be the first time the Peanuts cartoons have been shown in English.
The new series will launch in conjunction with the release of the Peanuts movie November 6 (see "New Trailer for the 'Peanuts' Movie"). BOOM! Studios has an aggressive schedule of new Peanuts releases (see "ICv2 Interview: BOOM! Publisher Filip Sablik").
