Yen Press has announced the return of Natsuki Takaya’s bestselling Fruits Basket manga series as well as two other Takaya series new to the North American market.
The immensely popular Fruits Basket shojo series was originally released in the U.S. by Tokyopop (see “Tokyopop Announces Seven '04 Manga Series”), and went on to sell millions of copies (see “'Fruits Basket' Tally Over 18 Million”). Yen will republish the series with new translations, and release the series in 12 updated collector’s editions. The first and second volume will release in June, with single volumes debuting each subsequent month.
Takaya’s newest series, Liselotte & Witch’s Forest will debut in July 2016, with subsequent volumes debuting every three months. The story follows the title character as she searches for an important person from her past, even venturing into the forest rumored to be haunted by witches.(Click any image for larger view.)
Yen will also release Takaya’s classic series Twinkle Stars, about Sakuya, a girl who has always been enchanted with the night sky. On the night of her 18th birthday, she meets a boy who shares that the stars may have more to do with her fate than she thought possible. The series will be released as five omnibus editions. Specific release date information was not available at this time.
