Comic-Con News: Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman, and it begins, fittingly, with Diana (Gail Gadot) discovering Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), who has washed up on the beach of Paradise Island. Later she explains that she has no father, but was brought to life by Zeus, to which Trevor replies, “That’s neat.”
In addition to showcasing loads of action, which takes place in World War I with trench warfare and open cockpit airplanes, the trailer also includes some feminist touches. For example when Trevor tells Diana, “I can’t let you do that,” she replies “You don’t tell me what to do,” and when Etta Candy describes the duties of a secretary, Diana replies, “Where I come from that’s called slavery.”
Warner Bros. recently released a new Wonder Woman poster adorned with the words “Power, Grace, Wisdom, Wonder (see “Wonder Woman Poster Premieres”), and DC has major plans to celebrate Wonder Woman’s 75th Anniversary (see “Celebrating 75 Years of Wonder Woman”).
