Comic-Con News: Marvel has announced that the next season of its Avengers animated series, which appears on the Disney XD cable channel, will be entitled Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars. The Secret Wars season will supplant the current Marvel’s Avengers: Ultron Revolution season (Season 3 of the Avengers Assemble series was retitled Marvel’s Avengers: Ultron Revolution, see “Sinister 6 on TV”), so the new Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars can be considered as the fourth season of the Avengers Assemble series that debuted in the spring of 2013. In Secret Wars an all-new Avengers, featuring Black Panther, Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, The Wasp and Vision, must not only save Earth, but all of reality.
At Comic-Con Marvel Animation also showed off some clips from the new “Rocket and Groot” shorts that have been created by Arnaud Delord, the animator behind the Gorillaz music videos (see “Two Marvel Animated Shorts to Be Made in France”). The “Rocket and Groot” shorts, which do look terrific, will debut on Disney XD (and will hopefully also be included as extras on the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 movie home entertainment releases).
