German game publisher Ulisses Spiel will release its The Dark Eye: Aventuria Adventure Card Game this October, which Paizo has confirmed it will be distributed in the U.S.
Based on the first German-language fantasy role-playing game (known as Das Schwarze Auge in Germany), Aventuria can be played either competitively in “Duel Mode” or cooperatively in “Adventure Mode”. In either mode, each player controls a fantasy character—dwarf smith, elven scout, half-elven rogue, or Tulamydian mage. The abilities, weapons, and magic spells for each character are represented in the game by cards. Players must choose whether to use quick but weak cards, or marshal their strength for more powerful attacks later in the game.
Aventuria comes with 250 cards, 74 tokens, 4 hit point displays, 9 fate points, 8 dice, a hero pad, and adventure booklet. The game is intended for 1 to 4 players, ages 14 and up. MSRP is $39.99.
Earlier this year, Ulisses and Paizo announced a number of new releases for The Dark Eye role-playing game (see “New Titles, New Schedule for ‘Dark Eye’”).
