Early next year, Golden Age comics fans will have another Walt Kelly collection to add to their shelves courtesy Hermes Press: The Adventures of Peter Wheat.

Walt Kelly's The Adventures of Peter Wheat: The Complete Series: Volume One collects the first 16 issues of the series. The collection is available in two formats: a softcover regular edition and a hardcover limited edition that is available exclusively via Diamond or Hermes Press.

MSRP for the 272-page, full-color regular edition is $34.99. MSRP for the limited edition is $60.00. Orders are due January 15, 2017.

Kelly drew 35 issues of Peter Wheat between 1948 and 1951. The 16-page comics followed the charming fairy tale adventures of an elf-sized boy who lived in a hollow tree at the edge of a wheat field and were originally given away by bakeries as a promotion for Peter Wheat bread.

The Peter Wheat collection is the latest in Hermes’ classic comics revivals, which have included B.C. and Wizard of Id (see “Relive 'B.C.' and 'Wizard of Id'”) and Eisner-nominated collections of Kelly’s Pogo (see “The 2015 Eisner Award Nominees”).
