Despite the mocking tone the video presents to Oscar voters, Deadpool has actually been very well received critically, nominated for several awards including two Golden Globes, several MTV Movie Awards, and four Critics Choice Awards. It won two Critics Choice Awards for Best Comedy and Best Actor in a Comedy and two MTV Movie Awards for Best Comedic Performance and Best Fight.
The film grossed $363,070,709 domestically and $420,042,270 foreign, for a worldwide total of $783,112,979. Work on the sequel is already underway, with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick penning the script. In a recent interview with Collider, the pair confirmed that Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hidebrand) and Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) will appear in the sequel. “I think we can say. Yeah, they’ll be in the sequel,” said Reese.
“Yeah, they’ll make at least an appearance,” added Wernick.
The duo also confirmed a third character would be returning, Dopinger (Karan Soni) the cab driver will also return. Wernick told Nerdist, “I would say that the relationship between Dopinder and Deadpool was the most fun for me. I love that relationship and I love that character. And he’ll be in the sequel.”
