In September, Victory Point Games will release a new expandable card game called Twilight of the Gods: Age of Revelation.

In Twilight of the Gods:  Age of Revelation, the players are mythological deities trying to survive the collapse of the Roman Empire and the coming Dark Ages by gathering as much faith as they can and outlasting the other deities.  Each player builds a customized deck of 50 cards (or uses one of the four pre-constructed decks) to represent their deity's powers and followers.  Cards are used to gather resources or attack other deities, forcing them to lose cards from their deck.  The last player with cards remaining wins the game.

The game is not “collectible,” instead offering a fixed assortment of cards in every box.  Future expansions are planned, each representing a new deity with a pre-designed 50 card deck.  Players can combine cards from any deck when customizing their own.  Twilight of the Gods was created by Chris Kluwe and Chris Morgan, their first published design.

Twilight of the Gods:  Age of Revelation includes 204 cards plus 20 smaller cards, 42 markers, and 2 playmats.  The initial limited edition print run will also include custom deck boxes and oversized deity cards with a foil finish.  The game is intended for 2 to 4 players, ages 13 and up, and plays in about half an hour.  MSRP has been tentatively set at $39.

Funding for the project is being raised through a Kickstarter campaign which has broken $66,000 from over 1400 backers heading into the last two days of the campaign.  The campaign includes a retailer-only backer package.  Participating retailers who purchase two full cases of the game will receive one additional copy for free, as well as all Kickstarter stretch goals.  Those retailers will also receive their shipment approximately two weeks ahead of the game’s general release.
