Dynamite Entertainment is adapting the second book in George R. R. Martin’s immensely popular A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series for comics.

Landry Q. Walker (Batman: The Brave and the Bold) will write the adaptation in consultation with Martin’s creative team, and Mel Rubi (Red Sonja, X-Men) will draw the series, which picks up directly after the events of A Game of Thrones. The first issue, which features multiple variant covers and retailer incentives, will be solicited in April for June release.

Dynamite began adapting A Song of Ice and Fire in 2011 with writer Daniel Abraham and artist Tommy Patterson’s adaptation of A Game of Thrones (see “Dynamite & Bantam to Adapt 'A Song of Fire & Ice'”). The first series ran over 24 issues.

Martin’s high fantasy series has inspired other adaptations as well. In 2018, CMON, Limited, in cooperation with Dark Sword Miniatures, Inc., plans to release Kickstarter-funded miniatures game based on the franchise (see “'A Song of Ice and Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game'”).

The seventh (and penultimate) season of HBO’s hit adaptation will premiere on July 16 (see “'Game Of Thrones' Premiere Date Set”).
