Launched in 2007, Summer Rampage is an annual casual event day sponsored by Privateer to promote its two tabletop miniatures games. Participants in the event create armies using only warjacks and warbeasts from the two games. Players earn points by participating in battles and completing Finishing Moves. If a player can earn enough points, they are eligible for a limited-edition game token that can be used in any Warmachine or Hordes game.
Summer Rampage is a casual event which retailers can hold on any day in the month of July. The event does not have a defined structure, instead it is intended as a sort of free-for-all in which players can play at their own pace.
The Summer Rampage OP Kit includes enough materials for up to 16 players: 8 “Warjack Disabled System” tokens for use with Warmachine, 8 “Warbeast Crippled System” tokens for use with Hordes, and 3 limited edition “Thamarite” black tokens for the event organizer. Each kit has an MSRP of $19.99, but is not intended for retail sale.
Earlier this month, Privateer announced plans to end its Press Gang event organizer program, allowing retailers more control over events in their store (see “Privateer Ending Press Gang”). Both Warmachine and Hordes continue to be major players in their category, both ranking in the top five non-collectible miniature games (see “Top 5 Non-collectible Miniature Games—Fall 2016”).
