A reboot of Hellboy is in the works in Hollywood, with a new director replacing Guillermo del Toro and a new star replacing Ron Perlman. Hellboy creator Mike Mignola revealed on his Facebook page that Neil Marshall (The Descent, two episodes of Game of Thrones) will direct an R-rated reboot starring David Harbour (Stranger Things).
The working title is Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
There’s a script from Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, and Mignola, according to the report, but Marshall and Aron Coleite (Heroes, Star Trek: Discovery) are working on a new one.
Way back in 2012, del Toro and Perlman were both rumored to be set for another sequel (see "Del Toro & Perlman on Board for 'Hellboy 3'"), but del Toro reportedly wanted a bigger budget than the producers felt was appropriate.
