The 12-issue limited series is written by Tom King and drawn by Mitch Gerads. Based on the cosmic escape artist Jack Kirby launched in 1971, in an eponymous 18-issue run as part of Kirby’s lauded Fourth World metaseries, the new incarnation of Mister Miracle will try to pull off the ultimate trick: escaping death. Mister Miracle #1 will be in stores on August 9. Nick Derington covers the series, and Gerads will provide a variant for the first issue.
King and Gerads previously partnered on The Sheriff of Babylon (see “Vertigo Announces 12 New Titles”), which garnered several plaudits, including best of 2016 lists from Paste (see “'Paste,' 'The Guardian' Name Best Comics of 2016”) and The Washington Post (see “'Washington Post' Names Best Graphic Novels of 2016”).Check out a preview of the first issue in the gallery below.
