A second multi-decade Dark Horse vice president has left the company; Vice President – Product Management David Scroggy has stepped down from his position as of July 1, the company announced.  Scroggy built up the company’s collectibles division from scratch, developing a line of statues, action figures, lunch boxes, and other merch based on Dark Horse and third party properties.

Scroggy has been at Dark Horse for 23 years, beginning as Vice President – Publishing before his transition to the collectibles sphere.  Prior to his tenure at Dark Horse, Scroggy had been a retailer, distributor and editorial director (all at Pacific Comics), artist agent, and a key organizer of San Diego Comic-Con.

“[I]t is time for me to concentrate on more personal creative work and explorations,” Scroggy said of the move.  “I want to thank Mike Richardson and Neil Hankerson for believing in me and giving me the freedom to try new things, and add to Dark Horse’s legacy of quality and diversity.”

Dark Horse CEO Mike Richardson gave Scroggy a good send-off. “[H]e has been a joy to work with and we will miss him more than I can say,” he said. “david was a friend of mine long before he came to dark Horse and that will never change.”

Dark Horse has had 45 years of experience leave the company in a little over a year; Vice President Trade Sales Michael Martens, who had 22 years at the company, left last year (see “Dark Horse VP Michael Martens Leaving the Company”).
