Tabletop Games were the fastest-growing Kickstarter category and responsible for most of the platform’s growth in the first half of 2017, according to research released today by ICO Partners. In fact, tabletop game projects accounted for 24% of the money raised on Kickstarter during the period.
There were 957 tabletop game Kickstarter projects funded in the first half of 2017, raising $69,765,251. Both numbers are records. The dollars raised number is over 40% higher than the amount raised in either half of 2016.
Success ratios are improving, with 62% of tabletop game projects successfully funded in the first half of 2017.
Four of the Top 10 Tabletop Game Kickstarters were funded in the first half of 2017, including Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5, which raised a record $12,393,139 (see "Top 10 Tabletop Game Kickstarters"). But the top of the chart was not the only place where there was growth; the dollars raised at lower funding levels (e.g., $50-$100,000, $100,000-$500,000) grew as well.
