Wizard World is returning to editorial content.

Once the publisher of Wizard magazine, which ended its two-decade print run in 2011 (see “ICv2 Interview with Gareb Shamus, Part 2”), Wizard World will relaunch Wizard as part of a new digital initiative. The program will include WizPop, a daily news service focused on pop culture, entertainment, and fandom. Wizard will relaunch on August 25, during Wizard World Chicago.

Brian Walton, who formerly held the positions of editor-in-chief at Nerdist and VP at Legendary Digital Networks (see “Wizard Hires Director of Content”), will fulfill the roles of editor-in-chief and director of content for Wizard. Nerdist and Deadline alum Luke Y. Thompson will be associate editor.

Classic Wizard magazine columns such as “Casting Calls” and “The Drawing Board” will be revived for the digital version, which will also feature reviews, interviews, and news about comics, movies, TV, games, toys, and more.
