Mayfair Games has announced a new Uwe Rosenberg game called Nusfjord, which will debut at the Spiel fair in Essen, Germany this October, with release into the trade scheduled for November.

Set in the historic cod fishing region of northern Norway, Nusfjord pits competing fishing companies against each other as they grow and develop their operations on land and at sea.  Players must assign their workers to various tasks, including operating their fishing company, lobbying the elders on the village council, clearing forests, and constructing buildings.  During the game, companies can sell shares to raise quick funds, expand their fleets to catch more fish, and even reforest lands to produce more building materials.  The player who can best manage their company wins the game.

Nusfjord comes with 13 game boards, 1 “banquet table,” 1 wooden ship marker, 98 tiles, 150 tokens, 150 cards, 41 coins, and 15 worker disks.  The game was designed for 1 to 5 players, ages 12 and up, and takes about an hour and a half to play.  MSRP is $70.00.

Mayfair will also release an expansion for its Kennerspiel des Jahres award-winning game Isle of Skye in November (see “Kennerspiel Winner ‘Isle of Sky’ Expands”).
