After discussion with the organization’s Retail Division, GAMA, the Game Manufacturer’s Association, has begun searching for a provider of background checks that will "meet the needs of all membership," the organization said in an announcement on Friday. GAMA hopes to find a satisfactory provider that will give a discount for GAMA members.
The move comes in the wake of the imposition of a new requirement by Wizards of the Coast that Wizards Play Network stores and Tournament Organizers run background checks on "staff or other individuals who interact with the public" (see "Wizards of the Coast Requiring WPN Stores To Do Background Checks").
"We are committed to providing you with the tools you need to successfully perform best practices within your business and secure the safety of your staff and customers," the organization’s announcement said.
