Designed by Shem Phillips (Raiders of the North Sea) and Sam Macdonald, Architects of the West Kingdom is a medieval city-building game where players are royal architects, attempting to impress the King and enhance their noble status by building landmarks. Players will collect raw materials, hire workers, and attempt to bring their plans to fruition. But other players will try to slow rivals’ progress, or get ahead with thievery and black market goods. Players must maintain their virtuous airs or they will lose favor with the king and archbishop. The player with the most victory points when a set number of buildings are completed is the winner. The game is the first stand-alone game in the West Kingdom Trilogy.
The box contains 1 rulebook, 40 apprentice cards, 40 building cards, 10 black market cards, 22 debt cards, 11 reward cards, 6 multiplier cards, 1 large punchboard, 1 game board, 5 player boards double–sided, 100 meeples, 10 player markers, 35 clay tokens, 40 wood tokens, 40 stone tokens, 30 marble tokens, 25 gold tokens, (solo mode components: 30 scheme cards, 2 reference cards, and 1 double-sided opponent board). The game is for 1 – 5 players, ages 12 and up, and plays in 60 – 80 minutes. MSRP is $50.00.
