In Spy Club, the players work together to solve a series of mysteries, gathering and confirming clues to catch the culprit of the crime. But care must be taken that the guilty party isn’t tipped off too early, or else they might interfere with the investigation or even make good their escape.
The game is fully cooperative, and has a mechanic meant to represent the benefits of teamwork between the detectives. When multiple players focus their efforts on the same thing, such as the suspect, they unlock improved options for their turns. It also features a legacy-style element, with 40 fully replayable modules that can be unlocked after each game. Mysteries can be solved as one-offs, or combined into mini-campaigns of five linked games.
Spy Club comes with 1 suspect pawn, 1 escape marker, 22 tokens, 91 cards, 1 card tray, 1 central board, 4 player boards, a “case log” score pad, a sheet of stickers, and a set of campaign-specific components that includes 2 more decks of cards and an additional 50 tokens. The game is intended for 2 to 4 players, ages 10 and up, and plays in about 45 minutes for each mystery. Spy Club was designed by Jason D. Kingsley and Randy Hoyt and features artwork by Bartlomiej Kordowski. MSRP is $45.00.Renegade has also recently announced plans for a new Uwe Rosenberg design (see “Renegade to Release Uwe Rosenberg’s Latest Game”) as well as a line of Power Rangers games (see “Power Rangers Coming to the Tabletop”).
